A new semester dawns, and I have double the workload, so unfortunately for this little blog, I have to devote my daily writing time to schoolwork/thesis prep. From now till May, this blog will be updated approximately weekly instead of weekdaily.

Good question. Well, I’ve been thinking of working up some “stuck in the 90s” stuff about Chavez and the Afghan Whigs, the latter possibly linked to my reflections on seeing the Twilight Singers at the Avalon recently. Although it’s been blogged elsewhere repeatedly/recently I also have some stuff to say about Bishop Allen’s “Corazon” and the sadly out-of-print Left Banke catalog. So I’m in the “pre-planning stages” for these.

Also been seeing much bigger shows than I’m used to: Deerhoof and Radiohead at the Greek Theatre last week, Belle & Sebastian at the Hollywood Bowl tonight. Considering the most recent show I attended before that was Team Shi, Health and Bark Bark Bark playing a crowded loft off of Adams… well, there’s some contrast, and I’m cogitating on this as well.

And I owe my friends at Flak Magazine a well-overdue piece about the Mountain Goats.
